Could the film be Le Voyage dans la Lune (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Voyage_dans_la_Lune), which was written and directed by Georges Melies? The poster looks right, at any rate.
Hugs and smiles,Jean Marie Wardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06549107203357246640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2869464170817632469.post-24596952404764778212008-09-27T18:02:00.000-05:002008-09-27T18:02:00.000-05:00I want to write a Steampunk. I've been playing around with a steampunk fairy tale - think The Illusionist meets Brothers Grimm.

There is a children's (well, middle grade) book about automatons, called The Invention of Hugo Cabret. It's precious - an adorable yet brilliant story and lots of illustrations. All revolving around one automaton and his maker, who was a real person. (not Hugo Cabret, the Jacques person whose last name I can't remember but he moved from vaudeville magic to the earliest movies. He made the movie where the rocket hits the man in the moon's eye.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
