The week before…

I'm not one of these people who gets everything organized ahead of time when it comes to holidays. In fact, I tend to stick my head in the sand until I no longer can. Particularly now, because I find December pretty overwhelming, to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the actual festivities. But I find gift-guying difficult, and there just never seems to be enough time in December. It speeds by like the shortest month of the year, even if it's thirty-one days.

I still have to:

1) Buy gifts. Though at least I know what I'm getting (for the most part).
2) Decorate the tree. Though at least the tree is up.
3) Wrap presents. Kids will often help with this one.
4) Prepare for cooking (though I don't have a heavy load)
5) Put up more lights around the house. (I know, they should all be up by now.)
6) Christmas cards, which may turn into New Year's cards.
7) Clean the house!

So, what do you have left to do before the holidays?

I'm extremely lucky that my husband is the shopper in our house. I barely have to lift a finger except to get gifts for my side of the family, which is a grand total of five. :)

I'm easily overwhelmed by the busyness of this month, too - if I could hide until it's all over, that would be ideal. LOL

I learned a trick, though - schedule elective surgeries for the end of November. It gives you an automatic pass on anything you don't feel like doing for oh, a good six weeks. [wink] Some of my most peaceful holiday seasons were when I had my foot in a cast! :)

I still need to send out Christmas cards and get some baking done. Luckily my husband is in charge of the big meals (and he is a much better chef than I am), so I just have to brave the grocery store for him.

I have finished my shopping and I am finishing my baking this evening. Everything is wrapped!! Maybe I can relax a few days before it starts!!

I have to wrap gifts but I plan on going to the mall and have the them all wrapped by the people who do it as a fund raiser. I still need to buy a few gifts but at least three of the presents are discounted movie tickets so that means running by Costco. All of this is delayed by the fact that it is snowing in the Puget Sound and sticking. With a cold snap designed to make it ice. Unusual for this area.

I still have to buy a lot of presents, wrap all the gifts, do all my Christmas cards. I'm usually done by now but things got pushed back a bit since my hubby is working in another province-20 days there and 7 days back here. We had to wait until Dec 10th to get things started

I have a few presents to buy and Christmas cards to mail. Otherwise, I'm about done... oh, except buying the food for our Christmas dinner.

And cleaning. Ugh. Seems like I never get the cleaning done. :P

Lots of wrapping and cleaning are on my list, too. I really need to get rid of some of the kids' old toys and clothes that they no longer use and wear.

I finished my shopping early this year, I got done in August. My kids and I just finshed the packing the last few gift boxes of homemade candy and hubby is cooking for the big day. My twin sister is wrapping all the gifts for my sons since I stored them at her house (the only place the kids won't find them.) So I get to relax some, at least until the first inevitable last minute "emergency" happens with someone in my family.

I still need to send out cards, wrap gifts and get a couple of last minute ones. It doesnt matter how early in the year I start getting gifts together I am always having to go out and buy last minute ones. Plus I have a Holiday Party to go to on Saturday.

I have just finished decorating the tree and it looks gorgeous.
I now have to get down to the wrapping as I have managed to get all the gifts I needed.
I always leave the wrapping to the end. I know I shouldn't as I usually give myself backache doing it all in one mad scrabble.

I still have to buy presents. I haven't bought one gift yet. I might have to resort to gift cards again.
